Soundcloud Is Not Allowing Me To Post A Clip Of My Song

I wanted to share a clip of one of the songs for my next album. I'm not too happy with Soundcloud right now. They "offer" a privacy link so that songs can be shared with only certain people, but last and this time, that link did not work. I found that people I did not know were sharing my music. The songs were works in progress that I wanted your feedback on and not "radio ready" so that was not cool. Just now, I found out the regular link for the clip isn't working either. :sneaky: I'm not too happy with Soundcloud right now.

My studio engineer (my son) told me to keep the clip at one minute. The last time I posted songs on Soundcloud people I didn't know were sharing them and they weren't "radio ready" Once again, the privacy link, which would allow me to share it only with our members, did not work, so I will remove this clip after a couple of days.

Read my updated post HD. I would've deleted the original post but didn't see a way to do it quickly (besides asking Matrix to do it).

I am still able to download songs from Soundcloud but they charge me approximately $10 per month. I use this site to download songs. I'm not a techie by any means but maybe you can download to MP3 and then share?

I think that many businesses are now making changes, due to the economics of the pandemic. They may not be saying it openly, but I think they are re-doing their software and making various changes. And also because of the political climate. Whenever there is a big conflict in the world, the internet gets hit with all kinds of technical problems. So that can be an issue also.

Hopefully you can find a computer whiz / Soundcloud whiz to help you out.

Thank you dseag2. But my songs are already uploaded to Soundcloud as MP3s. The thing is this forum would have to recognize the new link as viable. If it shows up as an MP3 from a personal download, that may not work because to Sf only accepts media from certain platforms. I'll read through the instructions and try it though.

@JonSR77 Thank you. My son, who is my studio engineer and co-producer, is knowledgable in all this music, techy stuff. I've learned some things from him and am still learning, since he just bought me a new piece of equipment I'll now have to make use of.

Yes, that is the way to go. Tech companies are often VERY bad at explaining their products. It is NOT you! It is the way these companies are not attentive to the actual needs of their customers.

Oh, by the way, my wife worked for a major charity in New York City. They did charity concerts to raise money for music for youth. She met a bunch of celebs.

Once Patty LaBelle came to one event. People were calling her a diva because of the way she was acting. But my wife spoke with her and she was actually in pain from some medical problem she was going through. She was actually a trooper to be there at all, and people were just criticizing her. So quick to judge!

She also met Odetta, Beyonce, Mariah Carey....all very very nice people.

I don't have a photo of her with them, but I do have one of her with Jay Z and Russell Simmons. There is another shot, where Jay Z saw Russell Simmons enter the room and he ran to meet him. But in the photo, because Russell Simmons was off camera, it kind of looks like Jay Z is trying to run away from my wife!

Our SoundCloud band page has gone through a few hick-ups in the past. Sooner or later the issue gets fixed and we're rolling again. Although the corona bug has put the kibosh on us now for quite a while. @OneEyedDiva hope your issues have been resolved. It can get frustrating especially when it's your own music. I checked out our band page and it seems to be ok.. 🤞

Very cool ! My goodness, she looks so little compared to those guys. Thank you for your take on what's going on with Soundcloud. You are right, you never know what someone is going through and Patti has had her share of pain and sorrow.

@Hazey Dazy...good thing your page is working right. I'm glad I'm not using Soundcloud to sell my music.

I think it is very likely that we have friends in common. I would mention some names, but, you know, not on a public board.

One name I will mention though is that we were friends with Jushi, a performance artist who also played bass with Sun Ra.

I'm not sure but, we don't use SoundCloud to sell any music, it's all free to listen to. We set up a little recording studio and started posting our songs on SoundCloud after we stopped gigging in 2010. Folks would ask us what we're doing these days and we'd just send them over to our SoundCloud band page. Yup, for better or worse.. 🙃
