Hey, I'm about to be a millionaire, apparently. Just got this:

"May the peace of God be with you and your family. I know it will be a great surprise reading from me today, but I consider this a divine intervention, as a pastor explained to my understanding. My name is Mrs.Patty Lax, a widow from the United States of America Married in Turkey, and I am writing you from my sick bed because I have been fighting cancer and the doctor said I have only a few weeks left.

I want to entrust my money (USD 8.5 million) to your care for charity purposes to help the less privileged, as my late husband's relatives want me dead so that they will claim all my late husband and I worked for. Once you receive it, I will tell you more about myself and what you need to do with the money. Please write to me as soon as you get this message. My health is pretty bad, and my doctor said I will be moved to the intensive care unit anytime soon. Have a blessed day, and please pray for me. God bless you.

Sadly, it's only 8.5m, and I'd burn through that quickly. Hopefully more will come soon. :)
 

I haven't gotten an email that sends like that one in awhile, but every now and then I do get a serious-sounding one that reads along the lines of the following:

"We have bad news for you. We have hacked your webcam and downloaded images of you watching pornography on your desktop [and perhaps doing, um, other things]. If you do not want us to share these images with your family, friends, and business contacts, please forward [some outrageous amount of money] to us at [xxxxxxxx]."

Which I know for a fact is fraud because I have never looked at porn on my computer, or anywhere else, for that matter. Still, every once in awhile I will see a post from a panicked person on Reddit who has gotten one of these notes.

Well, this evening I renewed my Microsoft Defender Protection for a mere $159.99.

This is a good price, because usually it's for $399.99.

Of course, complete nonsense.

  • 5 lbs pork shoulder;

I have been fortunate to attract a good looking younger woman from SE Asia. She is a very attractive woman and has captivated me.
