Spending time outdoors has positive effect on our brains

If you're regularly out in the fresh air, you're doing something good for both your brain and your well-being. This is the conclusion reached by researchers at the Max Planck Institute.........https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/07/210715103025.htm

That's for Sure! At my age, I've lost many of my old friends...as they seemed to adopt a lifestyle of sitting on the couch, snacking, and their only exercise was punching the buttons on their TV remote. Getting out of the house to take a walk, etc., is almost Mandatory if a person wants to maintain their health....both physically And mentally.

Absolutely agree! Anyone who does spend time outdoors regularly, enjoying nature, walking, taking in the scenery knows of the physical and mental and emotional benefits. I take my dog for a long walk every day in a large open space park where we enjoy Mother Nature. When out camping, I take long hikes with him in the mountain areas, enjoy the wildlife and the quiet of the outdoors with no interruptions of media, etc. It helps to ward off dementia and physical ailments, use it or lose it. 🌷

I'm a life long walker,every day try to take 2-3 walks,weather permitting
In winter if its not too cold/ windy I will venture outside to take a walk, get some fresh air, being stuck inside drives me crazy
If I can't go outside,I'll walk downstairs to basement in our building, walk back up to my apt on 3rd floor

I agree with all of the above posts. Going outside and spending time in nature is so important to our health.
I'm a '3 walks a day w/doggy' person. Heat, cold and even rain - we go out for 30-40 minutes each walk, every single day.
It's the most important part of my day.

I don't know how people who are retired and stay indoors, by choice, all the time, keep from going crazy - I would!

My house is no palace but it's nicer in here than the old, flat, hot, dry, smoky country we live in unfortunately.

That is true, which is why I have regularly referred to the isolation caused by the pandemic as house arrest. Our social life used to be one whirl of dances, festivals and functions, how we loved to party.

I would wish everyone could go motorcyle riding with us. Moving at speed in the open, fresh air while being bombarded with a stream of sensory information (i.e. ever-changing sights, sounds and smells) does wonders for your mind and body. I have personally seen it work wonders on depression brought on by early dementia, both on a motorcycle then in a convertible with the top down.

Extremes everywhere .....

House Arrest HC, huh? ... That's what my extended family in California calls it too.
