Sporting Goods Stores With Big Game Mounts

Ever gone to, without knowing, to a Sporting Goods Store and there were Big Game Mounts on the walls? Wife and I been to a couple and the mounts didn't bother us at all. Heck, we even got some photos of them. Bass Pro and Sportsman's Warehouse are two we've been in. The mounts were terrific! The Ocean Fish Mounts were great as well. I know that some of these stores don't have these mounts, but the ones that do......pretty cool. If I could bring down a super nice, full rack Bull Elk or White Tail, the head would be great décor on our wall. Only thing stopping me is the cost of the whole thing AND my age. However, I will assume there are those that wouldn't step a foot inside one of these stores.

Again, as always........"to each their own!" But, still wondering what you think.

We don`t hunt-we are both such animal lovers that I can`t imagine ever shooting one. But I know that for some people it is something that they were raised with and I respect that. Last Halloween we took the foster kids and grandkids to the usual neighborhood in town where we go and stopped by a coworker of son in laws. Now this guy is a hunter. They have added a huge room onto their house for him to display his "trophies" (is that what they call them?) I was absolutely amazed at his collection. A giant grizzly. A mountain lion. Mountain goats. Badgers. Animals I`ve never even heard of. I think he had something like 36 of them. It was kind of weird-I totally shouldn`t have been impressed but for some weird reason,I was.

Yes, been to sportsman's warehouse and Cabelas recently saw some mounts there, full animals too. I don't have a problem with it at all, but I am an animal lover and prefer to see them alive. I don't like anything stuffed really, most I would want in my house is a rack of antlers, if it was something we hunted ourselves. But I wouldn't hunt unless I needed the food.

We don't hunt, but do go to a Range for target shooting. Wife and I have watched elk and white tail deer hunts on tv and have been amazed at the size of game brought down. We are both animal lovers, but to know someone who hunts wouldn't bother us at all. In fact, my wife's mother brought down a nice 8-point Buck in Michigan when my wife was around 15 yrs old. I was VERY happy when I found out that my wife liked to shoot. She also helps me reload at the Range. Only thing I was raised to hunt/shoot was Sparrows in our barn area. That was with a Daisy BB Gun. They would "poopy" all over our farm equipment and my dad told me "shoot as many as you can see".

You are right about the sparrows, ClassicRockr. Farmers do hate them for that reason and also hate woodchucks tearing up their fields and making holes that the livestock can step in.

I gave up hunting years ago and killed my share of small game. The stuffed animals don't bother me that much and long as the animals were hunted fair and square. Hate the penned in animals that rich people go to just to kill big game.
