Stained T-Shirt

I have a t-shirt I pulled out of the closet when I was culling my clothing. I even forgot I had it, it was pushed so far back. However, it looked like I rolled in soy sauce; brown blotches all over the front. I included it in the laundry. I pre-treated the stains by sprayed them with oxy cleaner which had no effect. I even tried bathroom cleaner. Came out of the wash looking just the same. Next step - painting over the spots with white acrylic paint. Looks better, but not perfect. I like the picture on it, or I'd put it in with the bags of clothes destined for the city mission.

It's a wonderful picture.

The thing about stains in fabrics, if you run a stained item through an electric tumble dryer to dry it, 99% of the time an electric tumble dryer sets the stain.

Once set, the stain is there forever.

Like yourself, Ruth, I won't wear anything stained or questionable outside the home. I look to look nice when I'm out and about.

Almost looks like it's part of the kitty. But keep it for around the house. I wear all my ratty stuff around the house. Some of it's old with (coffee, berry) stains and even some holes. But they are clean. I don't even take the garbage out wearing that stuff. When it gets too old to wear, I cut them up for rags.

Backlighting shows where the stains are. It looks worse than it is because I painted over the stains with acrylic paint to cover them, so the paint is blocking light penetration. Definite pattern though - I didn't realize I was such a sloppy eater!

Since you have lots of other clothes, I’d toss that shirt. Just me, but I wouldn’t feel good any time I wore it.
