I had been hearing about Star Trek: Discovery for some time; saw the first episode Sept. 24th on CBS television. It was well done, in my opinion but I may not be totally impartial as I've been a Star Trek fan since the original show, in the '60s.
It was good to see Sonequa Martin-Green(AKA Sasha from The Walking Dead) 'resurrected' in as the lead character, Lt. Commander Michael Burnham .
However, there is just one fly-in-the-ointment: it appears that the first episode aired on television is the "bait" that CBS is using to draw viewers to subscribe to CBS' All Access streaming video service.
For $9.99 /mo. you can watch programs on All Access commercial-free; $5.99 /mo. with commercials.
Gee, I'm already paying $110 /mo. for DISH Network, which shamelessly has tons of advertising on top of it.
Now, I would have to kick in another [almost] $120 /yr. for:
Looks like I'm going to have to wait to see the rest of Star Trek: Discovery, maybe it will get sold to Netflix or...?
