If you could start a business at this stage of
your life what would you do?

You have no restrictions but you are not rich!

I always thought of owning a used bookstore with a cozy little apartment in the back.

I thank my lucky stars that I kept my day job and saved for a comfortable retirement instead.;)

The picture brings back such warm memories for me.

I used to visit an old book store, not a store but a book hideout in a ladies house. She had it all, and so uniquely laid out. The main book room was large, with a bank of windows running along the entire back wall, with wonderful bookshelves, bookcases, and cabinets displaying all.

It was always so quiet and relaxing visiting her in-home bookshop, and one was always greeted with a homemade cup of tea whenever you visited, and yes, she had a wandering kitty that would rub up against your pant-leg, looking for a pet, and with a wonderful selection of comfortable places to park oneself, I used to spend hours at a time at her store.

Actually been struggling with doing just that. I have acquired alot of equipment over the years, Bought a small 4WD tractor with a backhoe for working around the homestead, Brother works as an independent farm handy man and has gotten me several jobs.
$60 hr 3 hour minimum, and cant do them all....

I too have thought long and hard about this,
I have no need to work anymore and couldn't
do anything heavy, but still a diversion will be
good.

My idea was to make some costume jewellery
as I at one time sold gold and silver things, but
I don't really have room for that kind of work as
I live in a small flat/apartment.

So I tried Internet Marketing for Health and Wellness,
this is fine, but the last time I was anywhere to do
promotion was over a year ago and without any
face-to-face meetings it is not so easy as people
are skeptical about a voice on the phone and video
calls are still calls.

So I think on what else can I do, I ask myself.

Mike,

Sometimes it's tough to find a purpose or a new identity when we retire.

I've done a little selling on the internet but it feels like I've landed a boring job in the mailroom or customer service department instead of being an enjoyable little business.

Maybe it's time for us to switch from thinking about business to thinking about being of service to our community or to the people around us.

If you hit on a new idea please share it with us!

To start a business at our age is a problem.
we don't want stock or staff or a large place
to work from.

Being an affiliate is an easy one you only have
to introduce people to a company, then get a
percentage from any purchases that they make.

The company suplly the stock and the staff all
around the world if they are big enough.

You also benefit for tax breaks etc, one year I
had a holiday that cost £4,000 and put it down
to promoting my business and entertaining a
few clients, thank you Mr Taxman.

Came close
Had quite the demand for some of my wood butcherings

Then, when pressed to meet those demands
I stopped
Sipped some coffee
Pondered
Why oh why would I ever wish to get back into that fray I'd left when I retired?

Now?

I still make stuff
Just make it when I want
It all sells, so no inventory issues
