Staying at a holiday apartment and the smoke alarm went off.

Announcement, Move to the nearest exit and evacuate the building in an orderly manner.

Room 21 was cooking dinner and never used the extraction fan.
Fire Brigade arrived, turned off the alarm and now back in my room 25 minutes after evacuating.

There was another recent post about smoke alarms in kitchens. They seems totally inappropriate. Here we have HEAT alarms, that aren't affected by smoke, in kitchens .

WE had that happen twice in one night in a City hotel.....

My smoke alarm is on the upstairs landing ceiling...

I used to stay in the Marriott hotel near Edinburgh, and we had 'false alarms' 12 times, sometimes by people smoking in their rooms, but mainly by steam from the bathroom.

Once staying in a holiday rental, the CO alarm in the kitchen would sound when we cooked on the electric hob !

When I read the title of this thread, I first thought the smoke alarm went off in Brett's room because he's so smokin' hot!

Kidding aside, my smoke alarm is on the landing. It's only gone off twice in all the years I've lived here because of smoke—no fire, thankfully.

No matter where you are, it's frightening to hear a deafening alarm and then be told to evacuate. I'm glad nothing was actually on fire at the apartment where you were staying, and you're alright.

Steam from my shower set mine off once. Blasted thing.
I thought is might have been an exercise but no, full evacuation protocols were put in place.
Only when given the all clear by the fire brigade worker were we able to return.
About 25 minutes all up.
