I stay in hotels quite a bit as I'm out on the road. And, I spend weeks/months in the same facility... mostly during the week. I get to know desk clerks on first-name basis. They are some of my only "sane" humans I deal with away from home.

The hotel I'm at now has a young lady who works a couple nights/week. She is there for the breakfast on Thursday and Friday mornings. Was visiting with her last week and she referenced her two dogs.. her "Pits".

This morning, trying to be friendly, I walked over the desk and asked "Ma'am, just how old are your Pits?" She got this startled look on her face, her eyes glared daggers, and her reply was "What the f**k are you doing asking about the t*ts of a girl young enough to be your granddaughter!" I thought she was going to crawl over the counter and knock me silly. Quickly, I tried to get the situation back under control by saying, "Ma'am, you said you had two Pit Bulls. I was asking about the age of your dogs... your Pits!" You should have seen her face. She turned beet red. She began apologizing, saying she was just finishing up the night audit and didn't clearly hear what I said. We both had a good laugh.

She was working again this morning. Apologized again for her outburst and language. We had a good laugh. Finally found out her "pits" are Karma and Kalista (sp). And, yes, she is young enough to be one of my granddaughters.

Are they nice dogs, Grumpy? My pittie girl is just a sweetheart -- she wasn't treated well by the people who first had her, but once she figured out I wasn't going to hurt her and that she could count on regular meals and being able to sleep on the couch upside down, she turned into a big mush. She even gives kisses to her vet!

Have no idea. The young lady says they are. I don't even know her name or have ever met the dogs. I've seen some awfully nice Pits that make great pets.
