Still paying too much for medications?

Are you using Canadian and/or International prescription services?

If so, is it worth it?

Please tell!🤗

My hubby needs a colonoscopy and that glop he is suppose to drink beforehand will cost $90,00. That is with a coupon and using GoodRX. I have used GoodRX on other medications and it has worked out pretty well.
We don't have Medicare part D and so far we are ahead of the game by shopping around. There is a big difference in the costs between pharmacies and GoodRx will show the local pharmacies.

Medicare copays on my advantage plan are very reasonable or in some cases free until I enter the donut hole.

When the retail value/cost of my prescriptions goes above $4,430, I pay 25% of the suggested retail price and Medicare pays the balance.

I also have a state program called EPIC that helps while in the donut hole, after I meet a fairly substantial deductible based on my previous year's income. That usually kicks in around the end of October and helps for the remainder of the year.

Medicare combined with a zero premium advantage plan is still a great bargain compared to what I was paying for health insurance.

I am blessed to have great benefits through the N.J. State Health Benefits Retiree plan. Most of my meds are $5 for a 90 day supply. One was even $3.60 last time. These prices are when I get them from Optum RX, the mail in pharmacy the state uses. They may cost a bit more at my local pharmacies but Optum has a tool that lets you research prices. I usually only get meds I need stat from local pharmacies and that doesn't happen often. All my eye drops are $18 for three months. It's mind blowing when I look at the actual cost of things compared to what I pay.

England is the only country in the UK that charges for prescription medicines (for under 60's) . If you need long term prescriptions, you can pre-pay ÂŁ108 (approx $140) a year to cover all medicines. In Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland, prescription medicines are free (although there have been calls in some areas to re-introduce charges). I believe the Republic of Ireland makes nominal charges for each item.
