Stop Counting The Years ....

I just turned 56 yos and retired. It was 1 year longer than I have planned. Then the inevitable question popped up in my brain ...... "how many more years to live?". Maybe 10,15,20 or 25 years. My older brother died aged 50, two of my buddies died aged 52 and 55 (all 3 due to sickness) .... so depressing.

My grand mother-in-law died at aged 98 and one of the most amazing things I learnt from her was when we took her to visit "Seaworld" on her 90th birthday. She can walk quite sturdy and have good eye-sights. We saw her eyes widened and her mouth opened with genuine amazement as we walked through the aquarium. She turned and pointed to some of the fish that swam past us exclaiming "That's a seabass". We replied "Very good, grandma". All her life (before "Seaworld") she only saw seabass lying on the fish monger tray in the market. That afternoon she felt like a mermaid swimming in the sea ... that's what she told us. Her life was renewed. When she passed on at 98 yos ... it was just she never woke up from her sleep - so peaceful.

So I have decided:

1. not to count the years I have lived and;
2. hoping tomorrow they will announce a tourist flight to the moon ... I will book and make that trip

Have a great day, everyone !

I enjoy counting years!

In fact, I boast about my age in public places, and most always recieve compliments on my relatively youthful appearance!

I always try to find an entry point in conversations when I can state my age. (now 81)

I'm not looking forward to 85...I'm looking forward to 90!

For those into Math, I am 3 to the 4th power in years. (3x3x3x3)

Welcome to the Senior Forum, Adrian 7878!

At 56, you're just a kid among us!

My husbands mother loved to her mid 90’s, he has always felt he would outlive me, religiously walked his 10,000steps a day, ate healthy, saved for living a long, long life. This past July was given a year to live, go figure.
