Storms keep knocking out our internet.

Nashville has been subjected to a bunch of storms this past week. I've hardly been on here, or my other forums that I frequent, because of no internet service. It's been reported fixed by Comcast several times, but before I can take advantage of it and catch up, another storm comes through and knocks it out again.

My daughter and her husband who live on the other side of town don't ever lose internet. I think that's because they live in a new development and when it was built, they buried all the lines and there is nothing visible above ground at all. Not so here, it's an older neighborhood and all the lines are above ground.

Interestingly, since I've lived here there have been a variety of storms both large and small, high winds, thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings, and though our internet goes out, we've never once lost power. Ron says he can hardly remember a time since he's lived here when the power has gone out. But again, on Paige's side of town, the power goes out frequently. They lost power several times during this last week of storms.

I don't get it. Don't get why we each have different issues, dependent apparently on location as a primary factor.

What about you...do you lose your power or internet during storms? How frequently does it happen to you?

I lose all power if a major electrical outage happens. Las time was about 7 years ago during a storm where a man hit a telephone pole putting us all in darkness for several days. No power at all.

Our power goes out a few times a year, during big thunder and lightning storms. The call-in system is now automated. Everything's up and running in under an hour, usually. For long outages, I fire up my generator, to keep the TV, computer, lights and a window AC running.

Our power goes out every time the wind blows hard, usually due to falling trees. Buried lines would be great, but where I live, we're still living in the olden times. Smart phone is still dependable though.

Talking of storms....it's getting very black here and the air tastes funny. Time to switch off my router and prepare for a thunderstorm!
