Strange autumn for leaves

There are three large maple trees on my property. One was bare by the end of September. One still has most of its leaves on but they are brown and dry and one has leaves that are green, but dried up. Why the difference? Why aren't they falling off some of the trees?

If you have a septic tank, and it has a leech-line perhaps that tree that's still green is nearby, and getting an extra dose of nutrients.

Just so you know- I couldn't dream this all up in a million years, if I hadn't seen it first hand. Back in the 90s at a house my ex had, she planted a cottonwood tree right at the very end of the septic tank's leech-line. That cottonwood grew enormous, and would still have leaves on it when there was snow on the ground, in January.

Needless to say, the cottonwood had sent it's roots straight up that leech-line, which ultimelty needed replace.

It's the short daylight that sends the trees into hibernation by dropping their leaves. Maybe you just haven't had enough wind to to clear them off if they are dried up.

I had a maple tree in my backyard that kept its leaves well into November while the oak tree leaves were gone a long time before.

Don't quote me on this. It's just my experience.

I asked the same question about the trees on our street. I don't know what kind of trees they are but a couple of years ago they were planted to replace the huge trees they cut down because their roots were messing up the sidewalk. These trees have much smaller trunks. Some have green leaves, some reddish-brown leaves. The ones with the green leaves have lost their leaves or have only a few dried up ones left on the limbs. One of the ones with the reddish-brown leaves are still in good shape, the other not so much. Strange to me.
