Strange delivery from Amazon

I ordered some goods from EBay and today I received 2 parcels from Amazon. One was the goods I ordered, so presumably the order was fulfilled by Amazon.

However, the other parcel contained a large box of cat food. I don't have a cat and I certainly didn't order it. I have no idea why I received it, except that there was a note saying ' a gift from Charlie Alderton Projects'.

I tried to contact Amazon, but there was a very long wait. The customer service robot said that if the parcel was unsolicited, I should keep it of donate it to a charity.

Apparently there has been a lot of problems at Amazon with customers receiving a variety of goods such as cat food, toys and condoms instead of the expensive items they ordered. At least, I received the item I ordered and cat food. Now I need to find someone with a cat.

That has happened to me a few times with Amazon. One time I ordered one bottle of laundry detergent and received one CASE instead. I shared some with friends and I still have 1.5 bottles left for me after about 8 or 9 years.

Another time I received a 40 lb bag of dry large dog food. My dog weighed 5 lbs.
A local rescue group was only too happy to come by and pick it up.

simalar happening in UK, theres a scam going on ,
Random Amazon customers are being targeted by sellers in what is known as a "brushing" scam, according to Which?
The consumer organisation said "dodgy" retailers were sending out "Suzhichou" branded scarves to boost sales volumes and create fake reviews on the website.
The "sales" then help their products rank higher in search results.
Amazon said "brushing" affects all online marketplaces and it had "robust processes" in place to deal with the problem.
Which? said while worrying there was no cause for panic and customers should report the unwanted package to Amazon.

Makes me wonder if the food was meant for a cat rescue organization or something. I hope you can find someone in need to donate the food to.

Gosh, I didn't know anything about that ever (or especially often) happening to people.:rolleyes:o_O
How strange. Thanks for sharing about it, though.
I like being aware.

I’ve also had the experience of ordering from Amazon a new “Echo” speaker that came clearly used with marks on the item, a damaged box, and even a missing cable. A “return,” most likely, and in bad condition. Embarrassing as I bought it for a gift. I returned the used, damaged item and eventually got the new one I paid for…

Well, I checked out the "Charlie Alderton Projects". It's a UK corp, in Warrington, Cheshire, and only 8 mos. old. It has a fairly good credit rating. But what it does is "Undisclosed". And everything about it- number of employees, etc. is "Undisclosed".
Apparently, they give away free food to 'disadvantaged' cats.???????

I got a box of several pairs of house shoes one time. I did not order it and was not charged for it. I contacted Amazon and they said just keep it so I donated the shoes.

I forgot to mention, I've started to get emails from Amazon.co.uk with the subject 'na'. These go into Junk and I don't open them. I've reported them to Amazon.
I had a Samsung phone. Samsung used to send me advertising emails with Na in the subject line. As in, "Na, take advantage of these savings." No idea what it meant.

my biggest mystery was when I got a box containing a piece of knocked down furniture. We had been buying some furniture items for our new place, that looked like that.
I researched the shipper, and it was a Chinese place in Arizona. Unlike the other items we ordered, there were no instructions or assembly hardware. I finally tossed it, rather than trying to figure what it was supposed to be.
