Stricken with fear

I don't know if anyone recalls a thread I posted in March or maybe it was April. I developed a pain in my leg and I went to the Doctor. I have now been to three Doctors and still I have the pain. I just read an article about a disease called Rhabdomyolysis. This disease causes pain in the muscle tissue and can go undetected without proper diagnosis. My insurance is now denying payments for tests and I still have the pain in my leg. This disease can eventually lead to skeletal deterioration and kidney failure. Anyone know how to get tests without insurance?

Also, I have now had the experience of having young people male and female insulting me because they want my clothes? Anyone had that experience?

Halalu...I'm sorry you're still in such pain, and having difficulty getting medical cover to help with the diagnosis, as I'm not in the USA I can't suggest anything about medical insurance etc..however, I'm a little confused about your reference to people insulting you because they want your clothing?...can you explain that to us ?

Really?

Thanks for the response
Young people male and female: wear their parents or older siblings clothes many times without permission and sometimes they steal clothing. Do you call that theft?

If they stole the clothing then that's theft, if they borrowed them without asking to wear then I'd call it rude and inconsiderate..

I have a lot of siblings and when we were all still at home my younger sisters were always pinching my stuff to wear without permission..made me mad as hell but it wasn't considered theft!!

Can you talk to your Dr and get him or her to apply pressure on the insurance company to do some further testing? I know its frustrating and scary when you hurt and can't get any help.

As far as the cloths, I know a lot of the young people love what they call mid-century or vintage clothing. I wish so darn bad that I had saved all my cloths from high school as I could sell them now. :) If your grand kids or children are wearing your cloths (My daughter wouldn't be seen dead in my cloths!) without your permission you need to put your foot down and have a talk with them. Or, if you have the nerve, go to their home and find something of their's to wear and see how they like them apples!

A certain diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis is done with blood and urine tests. The sufferer's urine becomes increasingly darker as the condition progresses. Check the urine color. imp

An accurate diagnosis is essential, something that "Dr. Google" can't provide. You need to make your insurance provider render health care; I doubt that one could afford non-specific exploratory lab testing on their own for very long.

Young people want your clothes? If they are not relatives or connected in some way, offer to sell the clothes to them at a premium rate. ;)

Best of luck, hope you get a diagnosis and treatment.

Halalu, could you possibly have an inflammed Achilles tendon? That does cause pain in the leg as well as near the ankle and heel. Tendonitis does subside, icing helps and physical therapy shows how to stretch and heal.

Hope you find relief soon!

Are there any free clinics you could go to? That might help although I'm not sure whether or not you require a specialist. It sounds like you do. Does movement and stretching hurt you? Stretching is a good gentle exercise and can help improve a myriad of health issues. I'd try that before giving up entirely.

As to the clothing issue. Hey. Your clothes are YOUR clothes. Hands off everybody else. Make that clear. I'd hate someone trying to pinch my clothes. But I think your leg pain is the bigger issue here.

I think swimming, water aerobics, or aqua fit is miraculous for muscle and joint pain. Your leg pain is a very general description and could be a myriad of things. Is it joint pain, or muscle pain, surface pain, deep tissue pain, sharp or dull pain, localized pain or all over pain? In order for your insurance to cover diagnosis and treatment, you would have to have specific symptoms.

Do you have these causes and symptoms?...

The link comes from the NIH (National Institute of Health).

Meanwhile, if you really believe it is Rabdomyolysis and can't get immediate tests, drink lots of water to dilute your urine and flush any myoglobin from your kidneys.

Do not ever attempt self-diagnosis unless you are a trained medical professional. NIH gives good information and I cannot believe you have all the symptoms of rhabdomyolysis and no doc has done the definitive tests. Something else is going on and it may well not be physical.

You probably just have a pinched nerve in your back and you need an epidural injection. Whenever that happens to me I get bad leg pain and the steroid shot takes it away.

There are about a zillion things that can cause lingering leg pain -- most of them pretty straightforward, i.e., pinched nerve, tendinitis, blood clot, etc., etc., etc.
