Sunken Bayesian Yacht - a mystery?

This Sicily Super yacht that has sunk is the major story dominating the news. A great tragedy first and foremost for all concerned, it is awful.

Also a mystery as to how such a thing could happen. Considering a key close business associate has also died in a car crash - what a coincidence as the owner of the yacht was involved in huge long-standing legal financial battles. Such important people on board together.

No doubt all will come to light eventually as to whether it was indeed an unfortunate accident or not.

It does look suspicious, but an American Jury,
found them both, not guilty, on 15, I think charges
and they were released.

When I saw a picture of the yacht's mast, which was
75 metres, almost 250 feet, it looked lethal, the tallest
in the world, I thought then that it was Top heavy and
it looked very unwieldy, but my first thought was, that
it must have been anchored both at the front and the
back, which is wrong, but happens, if it was anchored
at only the front, then it would have swung with the
wind, but anchored at front and back, it had nowhere
to go and probably just got blown over.

The coincidence of the timing of the legal outcome, storm and probable death does raise some questions. Some are speculating if that mast broke it could've tipped the boat.

Also reports the missing have a small chance of being alive in an air pocket and divers broke thru the hull mid-day today but can't access to the cabins.

The yacht sunk in only 15 minutes. Apparently, to go down that fast is highly unusual. Italian authorities are investigating.

The speed with which the $35 million boat disappeared under the waves has flummoxed even seasoned maritime accident investigators. “In my many years of accident investigation I can’t recall anything similar to this,” says Gavin Pritchard, a former investigator at the U.K. Marine Accident Investigation Branch, who probed sunken wrecks for a decade.
