Sunshine on Leith.

Yesterday we went off to Aberdeen to see "Sunshine on Leith" at His Majesty's Theatre. (Leith is the in north of Edinburgh and is the harbour area for the city) What a fantastic show! In parts serious, wonderfully funny, happy, sad - it featured two former soldiers returning to their home town of Leith and trying to settle back into civilian life. It was to some degree about trying to resume the life they had before joining the army, but also the need to move on and compromise to find what was best for yourself. Although set in Leith and with a distinctly Scottish tone, it is a story that could be told anywhere.

The story was told in part by a series of songs by 'The Proclaimers' - all expertly performed by the cast and a small on-stage band.

This is the first time I have seen a totally full house on a Thursday afternoon - even people up in 'the Gods'. No surprise that it's sold out for the entire run. The show ended with a huge standing ovation .

Next weekend, we're back for a behind the scenes tour of the theatre. That should be good fun.

I love the song by the Proclaimers ....always wanted to see the play...

Glad you had a good time, and enjoy your behind the scenes tour of the theatre ( remember don't whistle or mention the ''Scottish Play'' it's considered very bad luck ):D
