Interesting looking a the prices and products - of course I am so young I never actually saw them.

Mid 70s had a friends Mom that was a cashier, she got her daughter hired on as well. This was at a Piggly Wiggly, they made excellent money. Back in the day this was a great job to have and we were all jealous. Beat the heck out of fast food jobs. There was another girl that worked at a fast food taco place. She always smelled like pinto beans when she got of work, she was none to pleased. There was not time to go home shower, do her hair and makeup again before a party.

I used to go along for groceries with my grandparents in the 70’s and always thought it took so long to get through the checkout because each item was rung up separately. This was before they scanned the items, at least not where my grandparents shopped.
