Supermarket Didn't Allow Employees To Wear Masks

Shoprite supermarket, a very large chain in N.J. and the 5 other states on the east coast was not allowing their employees to wear masks. My grand niece works at one of the stores and she told my sister about it. I think that it is irresponsible and put the employees and customers in danger IMO. I worry about my niece's safety, especially since she's in close contact with her toddler granddaughter. Several Shoprite workers in N.J. and N.Y. have tested positive for the virus. Well thank God our governor issued a mandate yesterday saying that employees of all retailers as well as customers must wear masks. I noticed the check out staff has already started wearing gloves.

Went to Publix a few days ago and the only employee with a mask was the young man who was sanitizing carts by the door.

They have large windows for the cashiers to stand behind. The majority of customers had masks.

Wow, Diva, I picked my curbside order at my CT Shop Rite this mid-morning. I saw employees going in and out of the pick up station wearing masks....but I did not go inside the store.

Come to think of it, the gal that put my bags in my trunk a week ago at Shop Rite, was not wearing a mask! It must have just started.

Thank goodness.

The last time I went to a regular grocery store, and the times I've been to the convenience store, none of the cashiers were wearing masks or gloves. I haven't seen many people who are- only a couple of unknown individuals walking up the street, and the bus drivers.
Janice--I was reading your moniker and it states that you have the "LA blues again." Does that mean you want to go back to LA?

Did a curbside pickup yesterday also....all the employees coming in and out of the store wore masks and gloves....the older customers also...the young ones, not at all, as they rush in and out, or just lolly gagging about with their arms swaying, heads turning, laughing at the rest of us in Corona gear, pffftttt...my blood started to boil instantly!

Better late that never (your Governor) - but really, how idiotic of the store manager! (I'm growling!)

Went to a couple of grocery stores yesterday - there were signs outside saying that no one would be admitted without a mask, as per California requirements.

All employees and shoppers were masked.
I truly never thought that I would see this day come. Never even thought about it.

Went to grocery store.. they'd run out of those wipes for people to use to clean off carts, and instead had a roll of paper towels! I'm fairly certain paper towels won't remove virus, but everybody who picked up the roll to get a towel handled them...
I'll admit, I'm totally in panic-mode... this time not even the bus drivers had masks, and very few passengers did either.

apparently in Philadelphia they\re not allowing passengers on public transport without masks...

Here's a video of 7 officers dragging a man from a bus who refused to comply with an order to leave the vehicle for not wearing a mask...
