A supermarket in NY is tagging Hagen Daz ice cream to track the stolen ice cream being sold to local bodegas sometimes blocks away. This allows security to track/trace the stolen merchandise.

Supermarket boss John Catsimatidis puts anti-theft coding on Häagen-Dazs

The CEO wants to actually catch shoplifters. Unlike other stores that have a lazfare attitude toward shoplifting he has no problem with employees trying to stop them. Said one garbage bag can hold 30 containers.

Ice cream is truly one of the greatest desserts ever invented. Given the price of Hagen Daz and other so called gourmet ice creams, I can understand their concern.

Thanks for the information that one garbage bag can hold 30 containers. The next time I visit the frozen food section I will be better prepared. “Stop? Who me? I’m just taking out the garbage.” :D

I'm not a huge ice-cream lover, but I do enjoy Haagen Dazs , and is the only ice -cream I buy... it's not cheap so I understand how Robbers have their grubby mitts set on it...

Sounds like we're all lovers of ice-cream. I rarely buy it, especially the likes of Haagen-Daz. I mean, no matter the size of the pot, I'm going to eat the vast majority in one sitting. It's a "once you start you can't stop" type foods.

For me it's all about plain old Vanilla. Not fussed with any flavors other than that.
