From the article:

"Summer offers a reminder of why covid is unlike the flu, a more predictable fall and winter respiratory virus. Coronavirus ebbs and flows throughout the year, and hospitalizations have always risen in summer months when people travel more and hot weather drives people indoors. For now, covid activity is low nationally, the CDC said Friday. The number of Americans dying of covid is less than half what it was a year ago, with a death toll around 2,000 in April. The virus poses a graver threat to the severely immunocompromised and elderly. But it can still surprise younger healthy people, for whom a bout of covid can range from negligible sniffles to rarer long-term debilitating effects."

Covid is still the 4th most prominent cause of death in the U.S.
FastStats Diabetes is #8. Heart disease is still #1.

At this point we know the narrative. People need to do what makes sense to them to help themselves. And please, don't let this make you terrified into immobility. We've been told this before and we're still here.

Of Course, world travel, Jet taking off 150,000 take offs Daily had to come to a stop. That's the reason WW3 started. China warned you, this is our world to do as we please in. Boom !!!!!

Most Americans think Covid is over. I watch some Youtube channels on quilting and cross stitch and several of these gals have been to retreats where there's a large gathering of people from all over the world. Several of the gals that have a Youtube channel said they came back and had Covid for a couple weeks.

We just don't get the news about Covid any more. No body talks about it but it's still alive and well.

Well, it’s an election year, so the fear mongering continues. I trust the CDC about as much as I’d trust s used car salesman, and that’s probably being unkind to the salesman. Today at the senior center, I saw someone wearing a mask, but under her chin. About as effective as wearing it as intended, if you ask me.

There is still Covid around here in Australia. I hear of people in my town with it every week.

the cases do seem to be less severe - partly due to vaccinations of course and anti virals for at risk groups - but also hopefully new variant is losing severity

Covid is really bad here where I live ambulances ramped at hospitals, shortages of covid vaccinated staff due to getting covid, and elective surgeries postponed in all the city hospitals.
So glad I didn't get vaccinated.:)
