Surveillance Cameras

Do you have any surveillance cameras? Home security system, dash cam, door bell?

We have the door bell camera. Since there’s no window near our door, I can now see who’s there. Sometimes when we’re away, an unexpected parcel arrives. I can call a neighbour and ask them to do a pick up.

If we were putting in a security system again, I’d get cameras.

DH doesn’t like secondary wires for a dash cam. Darn.

I moved in to over 50s housing, there are cameras all
over the place covering the flats and the parking, they
also fitted a new alarm system that will be complete
when the new doors are fitted, they were cancelled in
January, till a later date for the lockdown, they are all
video and recorded, the inside unit looks like a tablet.

We're looking at installing surveillance cameras inside and out of our home. It's becoming more and more popular all the time.

Sad to think what our world has become, but there's no denying the fact that society (as a whole) is out of control, and so extra added prevention is needed today.

Hubby and I have been mulling around the idea of selling off in a few years and buying property way out of the way, to distance ourselves from everything and everybody.

One thing we will not do is sign-up for a monthly service where ongoing charges apply.

I would love to see more cameras installed everywhere... people's private residences, in city centres, complexes, office buildings, on every single street corner, absolutely everywhere.

I too, live in a senior housing apartment building and there are video cameras on all the doors and in the hallways and the elevator. Nobody can get in the building unless they use the intercom at the front door and someone opens the door for them (from the intercom, you do not have to leave your apartment).

Yep we have the video door bell ( 2 actually)......also we have security lights all the way around the house back and front

It was extremely handy in enabling us to get a porch pirate arrested at Christmas.. he appears in court next week in fact!!

My wife decided we should have a security system. So she ordered these

eufy Security, eufyCam 2C 4-Cam Kit, Wireless Home Security System with 180-Day Battery Life, HomeKit Compatibility, 1080p HD, IP67, Night Vision, No Monthly Fee

eufy Security, Wireless Add-on Video Doorbell with 2K Resolution, 2-Way Audio, Simple Self-Installation, HomeBase 1, 2, or E Required eufy Security, Wireless Add-on Video Doorbell with 2K Resolution, 2-Way Audio, Simple Self-Installation,

Wasn't to difficult to set up & it works as she hoped it would. I discovered is the system stores videos of events. After finding a couple of hundred events stored from the doorbell & 4 locations I delete the events nightly.

With these ever increasing crime rates, anyone who lives in a fairly urban area would be well advised to have some form of Home Security. If nothing else, a bunch of houses equipped with visible security cameras, etc., in a given neighborhood, might encourage the thugs to look elsewhere.

Would suit me fine too.

In the back, we are treated to raccoons, squirrels, even Bobcats on occasion.

We had to turn down the sensitivity on ours. I’d prefer not knowing that a bobcat stopped by. 😱

I sure wish I had them when I owned a house. Even if I get a manufactured in a park (I'm still looking) I may consider getting them. They are not expensive from what I have seen and a good idea IMO.
Look at Rancho Santa Paula in Ventura County it is a lovely park.

Don't know how true it is but I remember reading somewhere that the uK as a whole, has more surveillance cameras that anywhere in the world !!
This was a question that I was going to ask anyone in the UK. In British movies the police can look everywhere they want. Too much fiction or a lot of the truth?

Not sure what you mean , Jules... ? Police looking everywhere they want ?..in what sense ?

Generally if they're coming into your home they have to have a search warrant

I was talking about CCTV cameras being in so many places on fictional tv shows. The police pull up cameras from almost everywhere they’re looking. Then they zoom in on licence plates & faces and use facial recognization tools. Wondered if there really are that many cameras there.

my question is this...how can anyone ever relax or get any sleep with this stuff going off all the time? that would make me crazy!
My camera alerts go to my phone or tablet. It’s on Do Not Disturb from bedtime to early in the morning. If my security system went off, I’d be awake. That thing is loud.

If you get too isolated and out of sight of neighbors, you would be a target.
