Sydney [OZ] Heritaged empty building set alight by youths

Huge blaze and took much expertize to douce - apparently set on fire deliberately by youths who may have also been homeless - many questions come to mind about caring for heritaged sites and securing them well etc etc

Hi Davey, I saw that on our television last night. It was quite dangerous with all the explosions going off. I too thought it was deliberately lit. Those that are after land don't care if it is heritage or not. In my suburb we had a lovely old theatre which had a heritage listing because of the lovely interior walls. When the builders came in to check out the interior, most of the fittings inside were removed. It has now become a wedding reception place. Some people have no respect, only see the $$$signs.

yea HK being the prime example of that - there are literally hundreds nay thousands of empty properties just decaying both on the island itself and the islands surrounding it - the easy dollars coming in build them up and then when they face financial distress they flee - plus they build mini palaces on the islands that are often reputed to be haunted and then use them once or twice at the beginning of the life span and then abandon them frightened of the ghosts!!
