Was once quite a table tennis enthusiast with a wicked topspin drive, not at a tournament level but for exhilarating fast fun. Arguably the worlds fastest human sport but always limited popularity here in the USA while huge in Asia and Europe. It is also a sport that works well watched on video. The last time I played was 17 years ago. Eyesight for seeing such a fast ball is extremely important. This person having 70/20 nearsighted in my left eye and 70/20 farsighted in my right eye was an issue I might have tried corrective lens eye surgery but did not so at one point decided to let it go. Such is reality as we enter middle age.
Today incidentally came across this women's match while on youtube. After searching on the board with "table tennis" and noticing no hits, will offer this glimpse of its fast action.
And then this youtube mix of some of the best points of the decade.
Most of those that occasionally play the game would not be able return on the opposing table any of the highly spinning serves from these world class women's players. First 11 point game goes to the limit.
