Take that North Korea!

Yes, we shut their Internet down to show them not to mess with us, and show the rest of the world just a little of what we are capable of when it comes to cyber warfare. Surely you enjoyed this as much as I did...

If these rouge nations want to play games, they are picking on the wrong target. The Stuxnet virus was pretty effective in shutting down Iran's nuclear ambitions, and "whoever" shut down N. Korea's Internet for several hours should show that radical government that two can play the game....and N. Korea will get the worst of the deal. Naturally, our government will deny all responsibility, but IMO, this is one of the few things in recent Foreign Policy decisions that bodes well for our nation. Weakness and capitulation only leads to more attacks by these fanatics.

I think the US denied having anything to do with it, and some say that it may have been caused by other disturbances or glitches in their system that are unrelated to the sony attack response. From what I've heard, only the elite really have internet or computer access in North Korea anyway, others have the intranet option, to view what the governments wants them to see and hear hand picked propaganda. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/22/north-korea-internet_n_6370310.html

Well considering there are probably only 4 or 5 computers in all of North Korea and the average person doesn't have access, it's really an easy target. Wonder how they will fire all those nuclear warheads they keep threatening us with.. with no computer system?

Maybe they just needed to reboot?

The US would most certainly deny any involvement in this shutdown....as Cyber attacks are looking more and more like the wave of future warfare. In the case of North Korea, 99% of its internet access is reserved for its government and military. Shutting them down would be as big a problem for N. Korea, as attacking our electrical grid would be for us.

The days of bombs and bullets are quickly becoming secondary...in comparison to the damage that can be done to a populace or government via a computer. Our government and Industries would be well advised to invest heavily in IT security.

From what I hear is that North Korea's internet is like a business intRAnet used for internal business only. In North Korea's case that would be propaganda.
