Taking a ‘Me’ Day

What would you do if you decided to take a pampering ’Me‘ day?

Would it be a trip to a spa? Maybe include a night away with your girlfriend

Do a thrifty version. Stay in your pj’s, read all day, order in food. Soak in a bubble bath. Listen to music. Absolutely refuse to do a lick of housework.

Have you ever even done one of these?

Yes I have many times. We don't have to be doing something if we feel like doing nothing 😃

Since retiring and the children moving out, every day is a ME DAY - aka no stress, no worries and no schedules!!

- Wake up without an alarm (always between 6:30am and 7am),
- daily morning and afternoon exercise - walking with Flash the dog (7am to 8am and 3pm to 4pm) as well as stretches and tai chi,
- never worry about "meals" (cook 3 or 4 meals for a variety of left overs until time to shop/cook again. ) No lunches with friends during COVID
- I decided years ago TO NOT BE A TV ADDICT - I have the TV in one bedroom for the sons/daughter when they visit.
- I tried card games but husband (deceased) said I have "NO CARD SENSE!!" lolol
- recently, I have been doing "jigsaw" puzzles on line. There is NEVER a missing piece or a "work in progress" on the dining room table.

Nope...my idea of a "me" day is simply doing a lot of things different and maybe binge watching and ice cream eating...lol.
I do the same as you Liberty...I'm not a spa person ( my dd is she loves it )...I don't do bubble baths I'm strictly a shower person... tbh every day is a me day because there's only me here..lol...so if I want to I can leave the housework and eat ice-cream when I want... but for the sake of your thread Jules.. if I was concentrating on a specifically ME day..I'd get my hair cut, and my nails done. and then I'd go off to the beach.. and take photos... Bliss!!

I agree. In retirement it's the opposite. Every day is a me day with fewer times that I have to do anything I don't want to.
I am grateful for that every day and don't take it for granted. Of course, I did work hard to get to this point.

Have you ever even done one of these?
I've done them, but it's always something different. Right now... ... I think my "me day" would be heading off to a really huge vintage/antique mall and taking as much time as I want to browse and feel the nostalgia. Grab some fast food on the way home, get into my jammies, heat the food and eat it slowly, and read a really great book for the rest of the night.

Years ago when I was working full time and had a family and also caregiver for several family members.

I called my executive director and told him that I needed a “mental health day”.

He laughed and said sure.

I didn’t tell anyone that I had taken the day off.
I went to the mall and shopped. I went and treated myself to my favorite subway sandwich.
I sat in my car and ate and read a book.
I just closed my eyes and was thankful for that moment in time.

Everyone needs a day off or a day to just rest, replenish or just get away from daily life.
It’s called taken care of yourself so you can take care of others.

I haven’t had one since, may consider taking one again when I can 😊

Yes, actually about a week ago! I'd been working so hard, I did NOTHING the whole day, purposely!
I took a bubble bath in the middle of the afternoon and painted my toenails.
I watched a little TV, Listened to some music. Just a day of LAZY! I WASTED the whole day!

But, I was so bored! I can't imagine a day without creating, organizing, DOING SOMETHING!
I sleep at night and meditate 20 minutes before diving into activity and that's all the rest I need or want.

The one time I did it, I enjoyed it but that was back when I was still driving and I never heard the end of it from Huzz ("A 'ME' day?! Silliest thing I ever heard", etc.") so I haven't tried it since.

I have refused to do a lick of housework on occasion.

I dislocated my shoulder badly a couple of weeks ago and spent several days in bed recovering from it. When I finally felt better I took a "me" day with a friend. We went pearl shopping. Totally self indulgent. We had a great time and we each got something fun. This probably isn't what you meant by a "me" day, but it's the closest I can come and I do know what a "me" day is. I'm in agreement with it.

My definition of a ’me’ day is doing something for just based on myself that makes me happy and or relaxes. That seems what you did for yourself. Good.
