Taking MSM and Collagen Peptides as a supplement..

I'm the worlds' worst for starting a Vitamin supplement regime, and not continuing with it, particularly when it comes to anything which promotes pain relieving of any type..

I have taken Vitamin D3 and a Complex Vit B capsule every morning for about 2 years now.. and recently due to the worsening pain in my hands and knee caused by Osteoarthritis.. I was prepared to try anything that might work, other than painkillers..

I researched and found MSM.. and started taking them for a few weeks, then researched further and found Advanced Collagen Peptides..I've been taking those together every morning for about a month now, and I can confidently say that much to my surprise and delight, this combination is working very well..

The last 2 weeks we've had more rain here than we've seen in a year... and usually that would cause me agonies particularly in my right hand and fingers.. but so far since taking the combination of MSM and ACP.. I have had very little pain.. ( knee isn't responding quite as well as the fingers)>. and haven't even had to wear my compression gloves at all..

It's early days at just a month, but I'm very interested to see if this continues.. either way.. I'm happy not to be suffering as much as usual..

Holly, good to hear you've found something that helps you......this is something that I'd be interested in and will do some research later today....thanks.

The link looks like a sales pitch to separate people from their money and I usually shy away. If the stuff works though it's worth a try if those ingredients are actually in there.

That is great hollydolly, I know that you have been looking
for relief, for many years now, I am happy that you have
found something at last, thank you for sharing the information.

Mike.

I didn't buy it from that website.. that was just a link to explain why MSM and collagen works, nothing more..

Twenty years ago, I got arthritis in my hands. I took MSM and glucosamine for a few months. The arthritis went away and never came back.

About a year ago, my eyes started feeling stiff. Not dry, just stiff. Dr. Berg on YouTube recommended MSM eye drops for dry eyes. I thought I'd try it, but I couldn't find MSM eye drops anywhere. So I bought MSM tablets, and sure enough, it worked. I continue taking MSM.

I took collagen for a while, but stopped. I was taking so many supplements, it was ridiculous. So I gave up most of them.

I've had arthritis in my hands for about 6 or 7 years now.. the first few years the pain was really bad as the bones grew spurs.. just agony... my right hand still hurts a lot during wet weather, and now I've noticed my left hand knuckles have started to swell, so my hope is to prevent my left hand becoming like my right and at the same time reduce any more damage to my right ..

Gosh, that is great to read your OP, @hollydolly
I am very pleased to hear that something is helping!
I will read it again, in detail, later on.

@NorthernLight Very interesting info about your eyes, etc, too.
I'm the biggest doubter and naysayer going when it comes to ''fast cures''.. especially involving vitamins.. but this seems to be working brilliantly.. none more suprised than me to be very honest with you.. :D

I'm so glad you found something that gives you relief. I tried MSM for a few years with no results. Collagen works better and I bathe with Epsom salts which also helps. I wonder if a sun lamp would help you? Cold and damp weather makes me feel worse also. Dry heat might help you?

No the sun lamp doesn't work for me at all Chic... altho' when I'm in Spain the heat from the sun helps which of course is the dry arid heat...

Hope you continue to get improvement @hollydolly .

I used MSM also Glucosamine and Chondroitin and had no help from any, and I did give it a good long time to see if they would work.

Turmeric with Piperine is supposed to help with inflammation which is the underlying Arthritis feeder as you probably know. Turmeric also did nothing for me.

I found some pain relief when eating more fish. After taking Omegas Fish Oil for years, I stopped taking them, a waste of money. My doctor even put me on a prescription Omega, all to no improvement.

Things that help me are low sugar, not much fruit especially citrus fruits, and just eating healthy where and when I can. I do not adhere, so there's that.

Some mornings my body is on fire, so the fibro flares compounded with arthritis is a trying time.

I have been thinking about trying Collagen as people are reporting that it is helping them in various ways.

Good luck to all who are trying to get relief and slow down the progression.

Owlivia, my DD who has arthritis in her right hand like me.. but due to an accident (unlike me) where her fingers had to be sewn back on, swears by Turmeric which gives her massive relief from the pain.. however she's experimented and found only Turmeric with Curcumin and black pepper works.. certainly Turmeric doesn't work on it own..

She uses this mix in an organic golden paste.. which she also buys in a pet form for her dogs.. she's been taking the Turmeric golden paste for the best part of 8 years and rarely has pain from her fingers altho' she has no grip at all, .. but if she was to go one day without taking it, the pain would race right back..

So sorry for your daughter's injuries, but finding something that helps her is marvelous. I hope she continues to have relief from the Turmeric.

My dog used to take Milk Thistle for his liver and the Glucosamine/Chondroitin for his squirrel and chipmunk chasing injuries, both supplements prescribed by the vets.

I wish the supplements worked for me! Lucky dog indeed. Lucky squirrel, too. 🐿️🐿️🐿️

I've tried a lot of supplements over the years, but not MSM. I don't think any of them ever did me any good. However it was hard for me to tell, arthritis pain comes and goes for a lot of reasons, so I was never sure.

The one thing that definitely works is meloxicam, I have been taking 15 mg a day for a long time, whenever I go off it pains return. However it did not cure my knees or my hand/thumb, so I got surgery, its been a 80 to 90% cure for the hand/thumb, jury is still out on the knees.

Have you considered surgical options? Knee replacement surgery is getting pretty common here.

Yes I've been back and forth to the doctor with regard to my knee.. NHS doctors fob me off, so I paid privately for Physio, and because my knee is so swollen, he sent me to a Harley Street Clinic for X-rays ( private medical paid for by me) ... they found only ''wear and tear'' this was around 3 years ago.. and since then the pain is much worse.. but I find it difficult to keep getting fobbed off by the General practitioner, who advises me ''to take Ibuprofen for the pain.. but I can't due to the CKD ''.. they seem to be reluctant to send me for NHS X-rays .. I'm thoroughly fed up tbh

Sorry to hear that.

Its not hard here to get the x-rays and to qualify for knee replacement all you need is an x-ray showing you need it and pain. If your pain is not osteoarthritis you need to know what it is. I think osteoarthritis is ''wear and tear'', or a form of it.

They also like to see that you have tried losing weight, exercise, and cortisone injections, but not mandatory. The weight criteria is roughly a BMI of 50, I am sure you are under that. I tried all three with limited to no success. Have you tried cortisone injections? They do work for some people, but are not a permanent fix, need to be repeated regularly.

My doctor told me that the only realistic options I had was to live with the pain or do the surgery. He was not against the supplements and was happy for me to try them, but he was skeptical.

Knee replacement surgery is the single most common operating room procedure in the US, it is not experimental or unusual. Most Frequent Operating Room Procedures Performed in U.S. Hospitals https://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/report...rating-Room-Procedures-United-States-2012.jsp

Best of luck with it, living with pain is no fun!

Are you taking MSM & Collagen in tablet form or a cream hollydolly,
the place where I get supplements from do both and I wonder if they
are equally good, or is your way better!

Mike.
