Talk about optimism

The tiny cottage next door to us has just gone on the market. It is about a third of the size of my house, with no garden, front or back. Yet they are asking £30.000 more than I paid for mine! I don't think so!

Funny but I do understand. I don't know how property works where you are but here it's the value of the land. Add to that the value of surrounding houses. This house was inherited from my in-laws and should be condemned. But according to the above it would be mighty pricey to even look at it.

It doesn't even have any windows at the back! There is a piece of land behind it, that looks like a rear garden. But that belongs to someone else.

But really this house would have to be demolished beyond ground level to be safe...but yet a waiting list for the land in this neighborhood.

Asking isn't getting. I've seen some houses for sale in our neighborhood and I have to wonder what the owners are smoking to think they're going to get that much more than the going price. All the houses are pretty much basically the same. Even if they've improved the living daylights out of the inside, they'll be pulled down by other property values. One house has been for sale for two years, probably because the owner is asking so much for it.

Indeed! There are some properties in this town that have been on the market for over 2 years! And they're reasonably priced. Must be quite depressing and frustrating if you're trying to move on and rely on a sale.

It's a bit of a weird town here. The houses don't sell because they're too small. And shops remain empty because they're too large!

You would think that the cottages ( if small) would be cheaper, and people would buy them as holiday homes?
