Taxes on Landline Phone Service

Ever notice the long list of taxes and charges on your monthly bill?

My current one said this:
Federal Taxes $9.78
FCA Long Distance-Federal USF Surchage $6.57
Federal USF Recovery Charge $2.95
Federal Excise Tax .26
State Tax $.5.82
NY St 186 Gross Receipts Surchage $1.84
Montgomery County Telecom Sales Tax $1.26
NY State Telecom Sales Tax $1.26
Montgomery Sales Tax .45
NY State Sales Tax .45
Montgomery County 911 Surchage .35
NY St 184 Gross Receipts Surchage .16
New York Universal Service Fund Surchage .05

Then of course you have: Digital Phone Essentials, Inside Wire Maintenance Restore, Primary Federal Subscriber Line Charge, Carrier Cost Recovery Charge, and Acess Recovery Charge. Why not have just one entry: Bulls_ _t added charges?

I keep the Ll...except when I talked with a CS..she said..keep it...
when cell ph.. "goes out"...you can still communicate out.

No longer have a landline but I noticed all the additional fees when we had Sprint cell service. I've had MetroPCS for a few years and there's one all inclusive price, which is a good price.
