This is why I haven't been onsite lately. I've had my Win10 desktop for over 7 yrs. At my pushing 70 age, I was sure it would carry me to my grave (or cremains urn). Then I recently heard that Microsoft is ending Win10 support in October, which will leave the OS much less secure. I'm having to invest more time/effort in fighting spamming, scamming, hacking and identity theft as it is. Even with my advanced age, my computer use has not tapered off as expected. If anything, it has increased.

I've asked myself lately if I could just go offline permanently. Could I retreat back into the real world and kiss the cyber world goodbye? I have no answer because I'm sure it would be improbable. Not impossible but improbable that I'd even want to try. Because of household management, creative pursuits and social activities, my cyber world has become my real world and my real world is a supplement. A very real supplement but still, a supplement.

With these considerations and not wanting to add more challenges to my cyber security efforts, I decided to change over to a Win11 computer. My Win10 is not upgradeable so I bought a new-to-me one from PCs For People. Unfortunately, this means more research and work in transferring everything over to new hardware. With my Win11 computer comes Microsoft Office 19, an upgrade from the Office 13 that I have. I am swapping monitors because the current one that I bought a few months ago (to replace my older monitor) is larger and brighter than the one that came with the newer computer. The connections are different so I have to research and may need to buy an adapter.

I've decided to watch some YT courses to become more knowledgeable about using Win11 and Office 19, which I hadn't done before with my older programs. I just winged it. Because of problems and security scares, I am changing email from Outlook (Hotmail) to something else (probably a paid more secure program), after I do more research. I'm also changing browsers, from Firefox and Chrome to Opera, Vivaldi and DuckDuckGo.

I'm making good progress. Just a little tired but in good spirits. Wanted you to know that I haven't deserted SF.
