Teen Dies After Falling Overboard on Cruise Ship

How terrible. To believe that suicide is the only way out is so sad. It's especially sad to me when it's young people. Another particularly sad thing is when peoples' vacations, what's supposed to be happy, fun times end in tragedy.

Awful

I am surprised we don't hear more of this kind of thing, death on a cruise ship. I suspect the cruise industry tries to keep this sort of thing quiet.
Are you kidding! Death on cruise ships is pretty natural because many of the cruisers are elderly. No different that dying in one's sleep at home.

As for suicides, that happens everyday on land. Some kids bullied at school and on facebook end their lives by suicide. Furthermore, according to the US Dept. of Justice, 60% of adult firearm deaths are by suicide.

People do not fall off cruise ships. They intentionally jump. I am 5' 11" tall. The rails come to my chest.

Some of you may remember that about 4 years ago, a grandfather dropped his toddler grand-daughter out of a window on a docked ship in Puerto Rico. He and the parents tried to blame Royal Caribbean. The police investigation and court found that he was at fault for negligent homicide. Why? He picked her up and held her out a window and she slipped out of his hands.
Luckily, they are video cameras all over the public areas of ships.

It's misinformation that a passenger fall/fell off a ship. Nope, they intentionally went overboard. But the media has to put it that way to get more clicks and sell more adverts.

If it was a suicide, he didn't "Fall." He jumped. Big difference.
"Fall" implies some sort of accident & maybe a safety issue with the ship.

I agree that the grandfather was at fault. At first he claimed he didn't know the window was open. I didn't believe that. It was such a tragedy.
