Teen Raised $10K to Install Baby Box. It Paid Off Last Week

I understand the reasons for a Safe Haven Box, but I wonder about the legal ramifications. What if your state does not have a similar law as indiana, and you drive there to deposit your child. Could you be charged with abandonment in your home state? While the idea sounds good, the Boxes do pose a legal quagmire for both the parents and the hosting community. How do you account to the police for the kid you used to have? If you are concerned that you cannot adequately provide for your child, then you can formally give up your child at any hospital, police station, etc. In that way, questions about the child's allergies and health problems can be made known. I don't believe dumping the kid in a hole in the wall, really is beneficial to the child. For God's sake, even Walmart asks a few questions at their returns counter.
