I screen my calls and told friends and family I'm doing so. My answering machine is set to pick up after two rings. My message is "Leave a message please". I listen when I'm home and if it's friends or family I pick up. If it's a telemarketer, I lift the receiver and put it down again which cuts them off. It's all over in as minimal amount of time.
