Texas Winter ??

I wish we could say the same, here in the middle of the country. Looking ahead on Accuweather, we may be lucky to see a half dozen days with temps in the 50's through mid/late February....most days will see highs in the 20's and 30's.

However, that will be quite mild compared to the Northern most states, as the forecasters are saying that there will be a large "Polar Vortex" hovering over Canada and much of the eastern half of the nation for most of the Winter. We had a pretty mild winter last year, so I guess this year will make up for that.

Oh no. We had a very cold winter a couple years ago, 20's actually felt warm. Luckily last winter, I didn't even use all my fuel on the pre-pay. We did have one doozie of a snow storm though!

Yup, the Northeastern states may feel the brunt of this "polar vortex", if it holds up during the Winter. The "lake effect" storms, coming off the Great Lakes may give your area some major storms. The news has already shown some pretty brutal weather in the Northeast....and Winter is just getting started.

Keep some extra groceries in the house.

Well, I do live in town so I know in the event of a storm, we usually always get moving less than 24 hrs after it pulls away. People just deal with it. We shovel out and go. The only frightening thing are the ice storms. They can weigh wires down and snap--a rare scenario but you don't want to lose power in the wintertime. Our winters can be quite cold but further north, it is a whole lot colder and they often have lake effect snow. My bro lived up near the falls and the lake--he described the winters up there as "brutal". I don't mind winter as long as it isn't too extreme. We had a coating last night-- I didn't get up till around 8:30 but the grass was white and the street appears to have been salted.

I was born and bred in Massachusetts. Joined the Navy, and got stationed where it was 88 in the day and 72 at night-so day after day., after day, after day. The last thing I expected to miss was snow. But when you see a guy bringing home the family's Xmas tree, and he's wearing shorts-UH UH. Even with all the grief snow brings, you have to have it. I missed the seasons changing. I understand that if I were born a bred in Texas, it might be different.

I moved down to Texas, from Chicago area, with a snow shovel on my shoulder..When the first person asked me what that funny looking shovel was, I stopped!!

But we do get some ice and snow!! But it does not last long..

Pretty nippy here now, but it doesn't seem as cold as it usually does by this time of year, and not bad at all in the middle of the day. We've had a dusting of snow a couple times, but only a dusting. January is usually the worst here, though.
