Thanks AI! What's next?

Grrrr...🤬😔😤 What's next custom content for paedophiles?
This grinds my gears

Sex crime squad detectives have been called in to investigate an explicit photo scandal at a high school in Melbourne’s north-west. Deepfake images of up to 60 girls have been shared online, with two Year 11 students suspended.

If it can be proven, who did this, I think that
they should be exposed and publically shamed,
I know that children are protected, because it
is thought that, "they know not what they do",
but I would disagree in this case, they thought
about what great fun it would be to get back at
some girls, who possibly told them to get lost.

In some cases, examples have to be made, to stop
others from following their stupidity!!!!!

I have to laugh at the attempts of AI telemarketers.....they
just can't get it right...usually a voice sez "hi" twice along
with someother audio noise, and then I hang up!!

The thread questioning the ability to understand technology. When I was working one of my responsibilities was to keep the shift workers current with changes to tech. It was an ongoing task that had few answers. I remember my advice to them. The good thing about tech it changes so fast, that if you feel you are falling behind, you can start at that moment & within 6 months you will be an expert.

It changes so quickly, what you do today will be old hat by then. My approach to AI is just leave it alone if you don't need it. Everything you see or read today should be questioned. It'll be something different in a few days or months. I've been out of the loop for almost 15 years now & i get lost rapidly. I leave tech pretty much alone & just try to function within my limitations. Even the user manuals are updated frequently.

Year 11 kids here would be 16-17 years old. Is it different in Australia?
I’m not sure. I listened to the video. Maybe I got it wrong. Maybe they were talking about grade 11. Then they would be 16 or 17 year olds. Eleven year olds sound very young but you never know.

I agree Mike. This wouldn't be the first time that AI generated porn pics of women/girls have cause nightmares for them. It's a vile thing to do to somebody. Reputations and lives could be ruined. Making examples of them might curtail copycat incidents.

Jeez.

This isn't the fault of AI. Like when people say "guns don't kill, people, people do". Same thing.

The law is hopeless at keeping up with progress in technology. The whole legal system is too antiquated.

You know, let's consider this. As a male of the species, porn has been known to me since early days. Back in my days, to see porn you either had to go to Soho in London, or buy a magazine from the top shelf. Then came home video, and early success was largely driven by "adult content".

Morally, people were up in arms. But for the young folk, a rising interest in sexual activities is simply normal. It's in access to content that differs. In 2025, well anything I'd have had access to is laughable. Today we have Google. Not only that, we have AI. Times they are a changing, and the genie is out of the bottle (sic).

This is something you cannot stop. No law. No policing. They just passed a law in the UK making AI generated child pornography illegal. It is the first country in the world to have such a law. But they're always chasing the dragon.

I agree with you 100% they are vile disgusting creatures.

Time to play devil's advocate. Keep in mind, I in no way justify the actions of thoughts of these monsters.

In the UK, we have recently moved to outlaw AI generated child pornography. Fair enough. But where is the line where we are legislating thought control? We - at least no-one here including myself - justifying what these sick individuals think about, but if we were talking say - murder (which is outlawed) we really don't care about AI generated images/video.

These are the kinds of legal challenges AI presents to us.

A few 17 year old boys making fake pics of their 'supposedly naked' female classmates. Who could have ever seen that coming?
AI was used to generate the pics, but it is the boys who committed the offense. There are so many issues involved with this incident. The boys are still "kids" dealing with adult issues, so do you treat them as "Kids" or adults. The pics are not real, they are fakes, but any pics of naked minors are considered pornography. And whether real or not, the naked images of the women will be forever on the internet.

I am all in favor of making an example out of them, but the question in my mind is: What would be an effective way to do that?

With respect - I'd suggest AI is simply a modern way of doing this. In the last we've had make up, cut and paste (which is very much something that came before computers) and camera angles. The pretense of youth has been a thing long before AI.

Just to clarify on the ages of the students - it is Year 11 students, not 11 year old students.

In Australia, that would make them 16 / 17 year olds.
