That spare room for visitors

Do you have that spare room for visitors? The one with the bed, the TV and all the other stuff?

I've found that my spare bedroom was probably used last year just twice.

Really not much point in having it there is it?

The visitors could just go to a hotel, rather than me keep a room, just in case they turn up.

No, not anymore. We turned one small spare bedroom into a walk in closet and the other into a gym. At least now I am getting use out of both of them.

I had one in my last apartment and decided not to bother when I moved into my current apartment.

I'm so set in my ways that I don't feel comfortable having a guest around full time, so much so that I would be willing to pay for the hotel so that we both could be comfortable.

The only possible reason that I can see for having one is if I ever get sick and have to hire someone to assist with my care.

I have two HVAC systems, upstairs and downstairs, and realized something just this year. I can sleep in the spare bedroom (downstairs) in the summer, and in my regular bedroom (upstairs) in the winter, sleep cooler, and still save on utilities. So I have a new pattern that makes that room finally useful. :D

Otherwise my spare room would probably just end up filled with junk anyway.

We have a room downstairs with television, Wii, futon, etc. for the grandkids to play when they visit. The grandkids are all growing up and don't even spend that much time down there when visiting. We have a small bedroom downstairs that gets used once or twice/year by guests. No television in it. Just a bed.

We have one in the finished basement, we set up a room for ourselves when my in-laws were elderly and sickly moved in with us and living on our main floor. It's a small house so now we use it as a storage room, but if we have company we clear it out and it's a guest room.

It's my combination guest room, she cave, craft room, computer room, store room and hidey-hole for the nights the Spousal Equivalent sounds like a buzz-saw. It's the library, the crocheting room, the music room, the extra closet. If Ronco made a multi-purpose room tool, this would be it!

I have two extra bedrooms. One is my computer room with my desk and all that. The other is basically a junk room with a bed in it. It's where I keep my vacuum, stash a case of soda, keep the bag I'm currently working on to take to Goodwill, the basket of unfolded laundry, etc.

I have two extra bedrooms. One is for my family when they come to visit. It is used several times a year. The other one is my sewing room/office.

We've got one. When I updated it, made it into what I wanted, girlied it up with no thoughts of my husband, beautiful room. It also has a small desk for my computer.

Yes, I have a guest room, but unfortunately over the last year has become a catch all. When I have no idea what to do with something, it ends up in there.

I have two extra bedrooms. One seems to have become a catch-all! We don't really have guests that spend a couple of nights anymore. I would rather they stay in a hotel. I know that is what I want when I go visit out of town family or friends. Just makes it easier on everyone.

Our spare bedroom serves several functions, it doubles as an exercise room most of the time , hu by uses it too as an indoor work room. When we have company we move the exercise bike out, and rearrange the room , it has a queen sized futon we let it down and make the bed up and presto guest room.

No. Even if I have a second bedroom, I wouldn't. I don't really like people in my home.

Years ago a co-worker hinted she would need a place to stay if it snowed in the mountains where she lived. She knew I had two bedrooms. I ignored her hints.

I've been in that situation, my belief is that the person made a choice to live in an area where they would experience some inconvenience and that should have no impact on me!

Some people think I'm cold as ice, LOL!!!

I HATE having overnight company in my house. My exception is my son when he's back in town. I LOVE having him around (and as a bonus, he goes around and finds and fixes stuff that needs fixing).
