The “Cartoon Corner” for those who still enjoy them!

I will shamelessly admit that I still watch cartoons at least occasionally, and enjoy them! I watched several segments of an animated Batman series last night, and it was good! This Cartoon Corner thread is to discuss any cartoon characters, features, or series that you enjoy, or issues concerning them. Alright, consider me a case of arrested development if you want to, but we do have animated adult entertainment now recognized, as well as cartoons for children. The cartoons may be in print or in video, and mainstream or obscure. We’ll see what develops…Whee! 😸

Skunk character Pepe LePew of Warner Bros. has been found politically incorrect as he foisted his amorous intentions upon poor Penelope Pussycat, a feline who somewhat resembled a skunk when she somehow acquired a white paint stripe down her back in each episode. Well, Pepe would never take “no” for an answer, and the comedy ensued from watching Pepe pursue Penelope as she’d frantically try to elude him…

A model for s*xual harassment, modern-day critics say, causing Warner Bros. to retire the character...but the cartoon was intended to be satirical, mocking the then-popular stereotype of Frenchmen as great lovers. The joke was ultimately on Pepe, too, as he fancied himself attractive but was repugnant due to his skunk odor. Pepe was clueless as well, thinking that a cat was another skunk.

At any rate, Pepe was never intended to be taken seriously and cetainly not as a s*xual predator. I kinda miss this self-deceived French skunk, and hope that the character can be rehabilitated…
