The 1912 sinking of the R. M. S. Titanic

I think there are still many of us who are fascinated with the Titanic's sinking because 1) the ship was touted as unsinkable and 2) the way in which so many lives were needlessly lost was tragic. Most importantly, the lessons learned from this disaster have added to the safety of today's ongoing vessels.
