It's fascinating to think about where this is all going. For the most part, I think people just like what they like in terms of music. I had a bit of a dilemma when all the stuff came out about Michael Jackson, and I wasn't sure how I felt about listening to his music. I finally had to realize that I needed to separate the artist from the music. If Prince or Elvis or Whitney Houston did drugs, that doesn't mean I shouldn't like their music.
I think the same is true with AI generated music. If it's good, I don't care about the artist.
Personally, I would love to hear a whole new album of Sam Cooke songs, if AI could make it sound just like him. As for who should get the royalties, I think it should be the creator of the music, no matter what tools they are using to create it. We have had music synthesizers for many years that often take the place of musicians, but again, it's just a tool. I don't think any artist will be successful at claiming the sound of their voice is copyrighted. Just my opinion,
