The Biggest Wastes of Time We Regret When We Get Older

I found this article very interesting and agree with the four "wastes of time" listed below. What others would you add to the list? Remember this is not about waste in general but about wastes of time specifically.

1) Not asking for help
2) Trying to make bad relationships work
3) Dwelling on your mistakes and shortcomings
4) Worrying too much about other people

Watching a bit too much TV. That's about it, for me. None of those listed actions, above, have I ever been involved in.

Reading AB's post, I can say that I did worry about how I did on tests, until I got my grades, throughout my school years.

To me wasting time is waiting in line for things that you can live without, that’s just one of the many ways over the years I’ve wasted time!
That's funny. I've always told people that there is nothing in life worth waiting in line. To that end, we don't go to any of the myriad 'fetes' or 'tastes of xxx' that are all over the Chicago area. Just too many people, too many lines, not enough interest. A lot of people would think we're missing something by not getting in line and getting pushed around to spend an afternoon eating crap food and beer.

a waste of time for me is
waiting at the doctors office for several hours and it takes her 5 minutes to write out my prescriptions
I say "ditto" to your comment twinkles. I go to a clinic and it is a nightmare--then they comment "your BP is up" DUH!! lol

Obviously, watching TV is a huge waste of time. I watch very little TV and if I do watch TV, it’s probably a crime show. Sports, maybe just a little, but I doubt if I watch more than 5 hours per week. I know men and women that turn it on at 5 in the morning to get the early news and then doesn’t turn it off before 10 or 11 at night. That’s a lot of TV.

Actually I enjoyed dancing.

First was the 8th grade graduation dance where I danced for the very first time. It was cool because you got show the girls which ones you noticed over the years.

Then there were the high school dances. We used to walk home telling stories of all the awkward encounters we had all evening.

My Doctor speaks to me on the phone each week, at a set time. Scripts are renewed by him in real time, using his computer, and he then faxes them direct to my drug store, which sends me a email later that day, to tell me they are ready for me. Delivery or pick up, my choice ? He is the director of the Family Practice Unit at Women's College Hospital here in Toronto, and he has been my primary care physician for over ten years. Women's College has a immediate e mail system, that sends me the results of any lab work I have had done, in 2 hours to my home computer. Same thing for any appointments at any of the other University Health Network hospitals. That is how a modern medical system works here. JImB.

Time and money on replacement vehicles. Plus too many hours spent with lying and manipulating salespeople. If I would have been more intelligent I could have bought just a few vehicles over my lifetime, and had well over $100,000 instead now sitting in an interest bearing account.

Plenty of individual specific events in my past that were a waste of time but cannot think of anything generally as a common pastime (non career) I had a choice in doing in recent decades that has been a waste of time. Note am one that has not had cable tv or a newspaper subscription for decades and does not play video games. Stopped those as young adult...because despite being entertaining, they were wasting my valuable time. Backpacking, hiking interesting places, skiing, fishing, reading science technology, photography, rock concerts, freestyle dancing, and in this recent era WWW Internet .

The above noted, plenty of career oriented things I wasted time on like studying and taking classes for technology I then never used.

My biggest waste of time is getting sucked into watching YouTube videos.
That's easy to do. I'm on YouTube a lot. But there is also a lot of good stuff on YT..

History Hunters. Mainly about California History.

The cat rescue channels I follow.

Former Newstalk hosts who now have YouTube channels.

ASMR videos. I don't know if anyone else watches those but they relax me. Not all.

Even some Movies. I recently watched "my Darling Vivian" I think was the title. About Johnny Cashe's first wife.

The beginning of my life on my own after college. Those 5 years of marriage to my ex-husband was just plain awful and a waste, other than having my son.

Now I spend too much time on the silly Candy Crush game apps. They are so damn addictive.
