The canvas of our lives.

I read an article the other day which really resonated with me. I've gone looking for the article again (I thought I saved it) but I can't find it. Nonetheless I remember its message and I wanted to share it here.

Every day we're bombarded with the idea that our bodies are PROJECTS and we get that message from social media, the news, ads etc. The younger generation has their attention directed to how they look, whether they're thin enough or their skin is smooth enough, whether they have the right hair color or cut, use the right makeup, wear the right clothes. And when we're older we are bombarded with messages about our health, what meds, which doctors, what program, whether or not we're mobile enough or strong enough or healthy enough.

And yeah, those things are important, no question, as we get older. But the arcticle goes on to stress that our bodies aren't projects. Our LIVES are. Our spirituality is. Our relationships are. Our work is.

We should stop spending our days obsessing and focusing on just our bodies, the way they look, their health etc. Our bodies are not our art, but rather our paintbrush. And whether our paintbrush is tall or short, fat or thin, young or old, perfect or flawed is irrelevant.
'
What IS relevant is that we all have paintbrushes which can be used to transfer our insides onto the canvas of our lives, where others can see it and be inspired and comforted by it.
