Does anyone still go or is it just for kids? I might go just to grab some cotton candy....it's been a long time. Or maybe some junky once a year "not good for you" foodie item that smells greasy good huh!

Not going on the rides, I doubt they will let me on the kiddie merry go round.

Can you remember going or do you still go, Fave food, fave ride.

I don't go when it comes here to town because it's full of teenagers... but at the coast I will go... and wander around taking in the atmosphere... I love the sounds and smells..

I left home when I was around 15 years old and one of the things I did before joining the Army at 17 1/2 was I traveled / worked with a carnival for one summer in Wisconsin as a general laborer.......setting up and tearing down is hard work but back then I was big, hard as a rock, tough as nails and meaner than a rattlesnake and the hard work didn't phase me.

Trust me on this......it doesn't take long to get burnt out on hot dogs and cotton candy. :)

I loved them when I was a kid!

I remember my sister and I tracked down my father in the beer tent more than once to get some extra spending money! :giggle:

I remember my mother fussing about the safety of the rides and trying to limit us to a few of the smaller ones.

Her concern was that the rides were set up and torn down by a group of sketchy roustabouts as they moved from town to town every week.

Most of all, I remember the small measure of independence that my sister and I experienced as we roamed around the carnival on our own. 🤗

I always went to the big summer fair, the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) in Vancouver - with friends. One time, I opted to spend my last coins on hot corn-on-the-cob, and ended up having to walk all the way home. It was far!

As teenagers, my best friend and I met a couple of cute "carny" guys. They were older than us, and one of them ended up in jail. Needless to say - our parents didn't know.
