The cost of a can of soup.

I get the Amy's Light in Sodium Lentil Vegetable... still $3.68 here. But more often I do a special order for Health Valley no salt added soups. Way too darn pricey, but you can add salt-free seasonings and it's perfect without a sodium issue. I get the chicken noodle, vegetable, chicken rice, and minestrone. Sometimes the tomato, but it's kinda thin.
Good Lord. I checked the price of HV soup on Walmart and it is $10 per can on sale.
I think I'll buy a food truck and just sell soup.

Oh I see. The ones selling them on Walmart are hawkers. They're probably buying the soup from Vitacost for around $4 a can and listing them on Walmart for $10 a can (On sale). What a racket !

That soup truck idea maybe gold. All I need in the truck is a can opener and a microwave. I'll spritz a little water on my face to make it look like I'm slaving over a hot stove prepping it (Out of sight of course).

Well now that's a great idea... go for it! (y):giggle: You can even make healthier homemade soups. I've been using the Herb Ox no sodium packets for broth for many years now. Can *not* tell the difference. There's chicken and beef. Zero sodium instead of the bajillion mg's in regular broths. You may have a teeny bit of trouble with your $10 a bowl, though... maybe toss is a slice of artisan bread with the soup?

Wow! Who would of thought that a can of soup could be so interesting that people would keep posting and reading about it.
What would happen if someone started a thread about a stalk of celery?

Ha ha, sure, why not, or cornbread. I can just find a catchy little jingle to play on a loudspeaker as I drive down the street. Then for those people who forgot to set something out for dinner, or just don't feel like cooking, there's always the soup wagon. No need to go get takeout .... it's instant meals on wheels. (Mmmmm, good).

AI to the rescue:

Bobcat’s Soup Wagon Jingle 🎶

“Rollin’ up with flavor, hot and bold,
Bobcat’s Soup Wagon breaks the cold!
From spicy chili to veggie delight,
One slurp and your day feels right!
Soup so good, you’ll dance in your boots—

.... and AI drops the mic and walks off.
I can't use it though. I will probably be the first case of an AI suing a human for copyright.

Our son had to go to Washington State a couple of days ago, he was shocked at the prices of everything except gas.I have always thought our prices were higher but he assured me that gas is the only thing that is cheaper. He was there over night and so happy to get home. His (our)cat was so happy he got home, she likes us but adores him, and missed him so much.
It seems expensive because a) the Canadian currency is very low compared to the U.S. dollar and b) Canadian GDP per capita is only about 60 percent of U.S. GDP per capita, and the gap is widening.

I thought Switzerland was expensive when I went there this summer, for the same reasons.

And, yes, I know the government (i.e. the taxpayers) pays for your healthcare. But so does mine, via Medicare.

I guess my question would be what do you eat for a quick meal that is significantly cheaper than the can of soup. 🤔
True, there aren't many options. I used mushroom soup on chicken in the crockpot, but not anymore. I just sprinkle it with onion powder, salt and pepper and let it cook in it's own juice and serve with rice. If I want a quick meal instead of a can of soup, I can get a can of Vienna sausages and have with crackers, or for about the same money as a can of soup, I can buy a can of Wolf brand turkey chili, or a Hormel Compleats dinner for $2.28 at Walmart. A can of white meat chicken was $1.97, which I just mix with a little mayo and it makes a good sandwich.

My son makes bean soup often. I make chili and every now and then...minestrone. I only bought the cream of mushroom to make a sauce similar to fettuccini alfredo to put over pasta. I also add cut, sauteed mushrooms. I'd use another cream of (maybe celery) to make corn chowder, which I only make every now and then.
