Several years ago I visited the Surf Ballroom for the 2nd time. That time I also drove out to the farm field where the actual plane hit the ground. A few days ago my wife and I watched "The Buddy Holly Story" on Crackle TV. It was a sad accident that should never have happened. The cause was a tight schedule by the booking agents.

Yes, there is also a movie about Ritchie Valens. You probably know the story about Waylon Jennings playing base for Buddy Holly at the Surf Ballroom. They flipped a coin as to who was to go on the plane and Holly "won". Story goes that the last thing Jennings ever told Holly was "break a leg." Also you might have heard that the big Patsy Cline hit she had on when she died on another plane crash was "I Fall To Pieces". Go figure!
