The Canadian duty free shop on the Canadian side of the Peace Bridge has just gone into bankruptcy. WHY? Little to NO Canadians are travelling into the USA at that bridge. The number of Canadians entering the USA in March of this year dropped by 4 million visits, compared to March of last year. The duty free shop allows people who are leaving Canada, going into the USA, to buy things like alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, china, and other luxury items, with no tax added to the price.

Canadians are staying home by the millions, not spending money on American goods, and choosing to travel to other parts of the world, instead. The Buy Canadian response is amazing. JIM.

from that link:

"The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority claims the store owes it up to $17 million in unpaid rent going back years, while Royal Bank of Canada says $3.3 million in debt is outstanding."

So the debt has been accumulating for quite some time.... not solely caused by Canadians staying home this summer.
