A WORM
I lay rolled up as snag as I could be…
It had been a long, long winter on such a worm as me…
Yet the earth was getting warmer, I could really tell…
Air now was filled with a fantastic spring time smell….
Reflecting on uncurling to the surface I would go…
To check and to see, if there was any more white snow…
Slowly I did unwind slowly I did uncoil…
before long I would be digging in the moist wet soil…
Momma said be careful, no hurry to see the sun…
But I could hardly wait, springtime had finally come…
Off to the surface, stretched my neck out towards the sky…
I would sour like a June bug, if only I could fly….
Soaking up the sunshine felt so good on my head…
I failed to detect the early bird ….waiting to be fed….
