Richard Benjaman Harrison the father or 'old man' from the show Pawn Stars has passed away at 77. Quite the character and frequent show/scene stealer with his dead pan humor/blunt comments.

I thought he was older than 77, even when the show started years ago he looked like he was approaching 80. At least he lived long enough to experience fruitful success.

RIP

Sorry to hear that. Pawn Stars is one of the very few "reality" shows I've enjoyed watching over the years. Now, if somehow Chumlee could "grow up", that would be a Plus. We stopped by that Gold and Silver pawn shop a couple of years ago, on one of our trips to LV...That is a Very Busy store.

Sorry to hear that. We paid a visit on our last trip to Vegas and it must have been a slow day, because it wasn't at all busy. I heard that some days, there is a line down the block to get in. None of the family was in there....I don't think they come there often except to film shows.

I had a commemorative token from a defunct casino to sell. I knew it was worth $40 because that's what they were selling for on the internet; they gave me $20, which was par for the course.

Rest in peace Richard, I watch that show on Sunday's sometimes when I'm in the kitchen eating supper. Some interesting items people bring in to pawn or sell.

I watched the show a few times but I thought they were a bunch of scoundrels trying to rip people off. No love lost there. & felt sorry for that idiot guy, Chewy or whatever.

Its one of the few TV shows I like. That and American Pickers. The Old Man was my favorite. His blunt honesty totally reminded me of my dad. I have missed him on the program this last season. I like Chumlee, who has to be playing around, no one could really be that dumb and hold down a job. I have never cared much for Cory, he appears spoiled and well, a bit of an ass. Rick is OK. I like learning about the interesting items brought in and the show has a good research department.

I went to the Pickers store in Nashville last October. It was filled with junk that only a collector would be interested in. Had it been anymore junkier (is that a word?) the store would have looked more like the set of "Sanford and Son." There is no doubt in my mind that Pickers and Pawn Stars are both made for entertainment purposes only. No one in their right mind takes a Rembrandt to a pawn shop for appraisal and/or to sell. And, on Pickers, the little fat guy, Frank, I believe his name is, if I was selling stuff and he tried to pull some of the shenanigans with me that he does with his sellers, I would have sent him packing. But, I know people enjoy watching these types of shows for their entertainment value. I mean, why else would anyone watch them?

I also liked the old man. He was a bit gruff on the outside, but I bet he was a good dad while raising Rick. Too bad Rick didn't teach his kid some of the same values.

Richard laughs at every joke like remark he makes-very annoying. I enjoyed his father but his lack of mobility had me thinking about a persons heart when lack of mobility is obvious. I have had two neighbors die from cardiac issues and neither did so much as a daily walk. Both were in their early 60s.
