The Inlet

This is Sabastian Inlet in Florida. It is where the Indianatlanic River joins the Atlantic Ocean. The overhead pass is A1A highway which runs along coast line. It is a State Park, but for 6 bucks a carload, it is a great place to visit with company and spend the day.

At certain times of the year, you have to watch out for the stinging jellyfish. They wash up on shore and look like a blue condom all blown up but can still sting you.

Just recently, in this general area, a couple guys found 24 gold coins worth about $200,000 today. They were scuba diving and saw something shiny in a few feet of water. Nice going guys.

for us, it is about a 20 minute ride south and one of our favorite places to visit.

Nice pictures Pappy! I was stung by a man-o-war jellyfish when I was a kid. There were two kinds in the area, the ones with 4 suckers, and the ones with the tentacles...I was bitten by the latter. It stung, itched and got red. My girlfriends mother was a nurse, and she just slathered some calamine lotion on it...healed from there.

Thank you for posting the pictures, Pappy. Now I'm homesick for Florida!

Sebastian Inlet is a wonderful place! My kids and I drove down every once in a while to spend the day. We loved watching the surfers or just sitting on the sand at the tidal pool.

If you go in the opposite direction, there is another park at Port Canaveral called Jetty Park. It has a super-long pier and several restaurants. You can watch the cruise ships heading out to sea from there.

Daisy, I know exactly where Jetty Park is. We have been to Ron Jon's Resort, just before you get to the Jetty, for Thanksgiving buffets. Also, on 50th anniversary the kids gave us a 3 day cruise out of the port. Love this area.

now if I could just figure out how to get my pictures to go into an album, I could post a lot more.
