Michael, I live in Florida (mosquito town USA). Most of the ones I see down here are tiger striped. They are called Asian tiger striped mosquitoes. They leave a big, nasty, itchy welt. A portion of our city tax dollars goes towards mosquito control. The city sends out helicopters to drop pesticide. They also drive up & down every street in vehicles that have a pesticide gas blowing out the back end. All these efforts only make a dent in the mosquito population. When we leave the safety of our home, we have to spray ourselves (and our pets). Years ago I saw a similar YouTube video on making a mosquito trap with soda bottles. I made many of them. It really didn't seem to make much difference. Here's a photo of an Asian tiger mosquito.
