The national "Meals on Wheels" program

Meals on wheels was a great help to my Mother.

She fought us every step of the way but we finally got her to agree to three days each week.

Having someone stop in and check on her was as important as the meals.

Today our local meals on wheels accepts SNAP benefits and charges $8.00/day for one hot and one cold meal delivered five days each week with frozen meals available for weekend days and holidays. They also provide a blizzard box in case inclement weather prevents a delivery.

For those that cannot afford the daily fee subsidies are available, no one is turned away because of low or insufficient income.

It’s still a valuable program even in today’s world of home delivery.

I work for a local food delivery program for shut-ins, seniors and other people that find it difficult to cook or get out to obtain groceries. Right now there are 7 clients and 5 stops on my Thursday route, but that changes frequently as clients go off or are added to the 23 mile route (they are quite spread out). A is the pick-up site. There are 2 clients at B and F.
